The exhibition “Mary Quant – ‘60s Mini Revolution” has opened at the Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge Silverware, County Kildare, celebrating the late fashion designer’s influence. The collection, owned by Jannette Flood, makes its Irish debut after touring internationally, with over a million viewers worldwide.

The display features original garments, makeup, and accessories, including Quant’s iconic PVC handbags and inventive designs. Jannette Flood, inspired by her family’s style background, began collecting Quant items in the pre-internet era, focusing on preservation rather than consumerism.

William Doyle, CEO of Newbridge Silverware, noted the exhibition aligns with the museum’s permanent collection and reflects the spirit of the 1960s. The exhibition honours the legacy of the late designer whose fearless and playful approach to style helped define the ‘Swinging Sixties’ and revolutionised how women dressed.

This is first time the collection, owned by Dubliner Jannette Flood, has been shown in Ireland and features authentic Mary Quant garments, makeup and accessories. The exhibition is free to enter and runs until the end of 2025. As Mary Quant famously said, “I didn’t have time to wait for women’s lib.”

William Doyle shared, “This remarkable exhibition perfectly complements our permanent collection, which includes the only complete set of Beatles suits worn by the band themselves.”
