Cashel born Michael Davern has been appointed as General Manager of the forthcoming five-star Seaton House in St Andrews.

Mr Davern joins from the Anantara’s The Marker Hotel having previously served as GM of the K Club in Straffan during the Ryder Cup in 2006 and until the sale of the resort to Michael Fetherston. At Straffan he oversaw the construction of a new wing to the 1830s former mansion of the Barton family. He was recognised as Ph&r World General Manager of the Year in 2016. 

The historic Seaton House, overlooking the first tee of the Old Course in St Andrews, is set for restoration and reopening in early 2025.

Seaton House boasts 42 luxury bedrooms, including suites and junior suites, offering 5-star hospitality just a short walk from St Andrews’ historic attractions and dining options.

Davern is looking forward to leading the team at Seaton House to create a special and unique guest experience, with a focus on Scottish hospitality, fine dining experiences, and a warm atmosphere in the charming old town. 

Mr Davern’s two brothers, al graduates of Shannon College, are also in the hospitality business, Donagh is a lecturer in  Munster Technological University in Cork and Bryan is Director of Hotels with The Dean Hotel Group.
