The Moxy Hotel and Residence Inn by Marriott are set to open in Cork city in September.
Moxy Hotels will feature 153 chic guestrooms, a vibrant social atmosphere, 24/7 food and beverage options, and guests will be welcomed with a complimentary cocktail at Bar Moxy upon check-in.
Residence Inn will offer 53 spacious suites with fully equipped kitchens and designated living and working areas, along with complimentary breakfast and grocery delivery services for business and family travellers.
Statements from both hotel brands emphasise sustainability with eco-friendly practices and materials, while being situated near Cork’s historic attractions and lively culinary scene, allowing guests to easily explore the city’s cultural heritage.
The facade of the former McKenzies Building, which had been in use as a Circuit Courthouse and then a community arts centre, has been retained but the body of the hotel will be a modern brick and glass structure and along with 153 hotel rooms and 41 long-stay suites, it will have the rooftop restaurant, gym and ground floor restaurant and café.
Cork-based architects Meitheal worked with Limerick-based Conack Construction on the three-Star hotel on Camden Quay, which will be the first Marriott-branded hotel in Cork city, operated by the London-HQ’d JMK Group. The group are also behind plans for another hotel on Leeside, on the South Terrace, behind the historic facade of three vacant Georgian terraced houses.
