Hurtigruten Group announced that the MS Maud will temporarily return to Hurtigruten for environmental upgrade programmes, while HX (Hurtigruten Expeditions) adjusts fleet deployments after a successful Antarctic season.

The MS Maud, previously operating on the Norwegian coast, joined the HX fleet in 2021 and is expected to rejoin HX in 2026 after the completion of the upgrades.

Hurtigruten Group’s CEO, Daniel Skjeldam, highlighted the company’s commitment to the most significant environmental upgrade in the cruise industry and mentioned the strategic shift of utilizing the diverse fleet capabilities to temporarily relocate the MS Maud to Hurtigruten.

The decision to temporarily move the MS Maud ensures fleet optimization during the upgrade period, with plans in place for the ship to return to the HX fleet in 2026.
