Mumbai’s new cruise terminal has been opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, spanning 415,000 square feet and costing €55.6m.

Designed to handle 1m guests annually, the terminal accommodates up to 15,000 passengers daily with a pier for five 300-metre ships. Developed by Ballard Pier Port Pvt Ltd and JM Baxi under a 30-year concession, it aims to make Mumbai a global cruise hub.

The terminal supports the Cruise Bharat Mission, promoting India as a premier cruise destination with visits from luxury lines like Celebrity and Silversea. Located near Colaba, the facility integrates with Mumbai’s maritime history and bustling coastal business.

Sarbananda Sonowal shared: “The maritime history of Mumbai is rich and an integral part of our civilisation. As a coastal hub, it has served the nation handsomely with its bustling coastal business.”
