A new Strategic Plan 2024-2028 for Saint Declan’s Way, known as the ‘Sacred Irish Camino’, connecting Tipperary to Waterford, was unveiled at the Rock of Cashel by Minister Mary Butler.
The plan involves the replacement of the existing Enterprise trains with modern and sustainable ones, aiming to elevate the ancient pilgrim path to national and international prominence.
The route spans 115 kilometres and offers a blend of historic and spiritual heritage, passing through Ireland’s landscapes and key sites in early Christian history.
The plan outlines initiatives to enhance infrastructure, boost visitor numbers, and attract both domestic and international tourists, with an estimated investment of €2.4 million to generate significant economic impact and position Ireland as a premier destination for pilgrim walkers worldwide.
