Niall MacCarthy of Cork airport elected new chair of ITIC

Niall MacCarthy, managing director of Cork Airport, has been elected as the new chair of the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) for a two-year term, taking over from Elaina Fitzgerald Kane.

MacCarthy emphasised the importance of tourism and hospitality in Ireland, stating that the industry requires ongoing support from the government to ensure sustainable growth.

With a background in aviation and a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, MacCarthy has extensive experience in the industry, having held roles in various locations since 2000.

ITIC, founded in 1984, comprises members from various sectors including accommodations, transport, attractions, and business tourism.

CEO Eoghan O’Mara-Walsh said: “Niall MacCarthy will be “a really strong Chairperson of ITIC and will represent member interests strongly as we look to grow the sector for the benefit of business, the exchequer and employment.
