A group from Russia is set to become the first known tourists allowed into North Korea since the pandemic border lockdowns began in 2020.
North Korea has maintained strict border controls and has yet to fully reopen to foreigners.
The four-day tour, arranged through Vostok Intur, a Vladivostok-based agency, will include stops in Pyongyang and Masikryong ski resort.
Tass said the trip was arranged under an agreement reached between Oleg Kozhemyako, governor of the Primorye region, and North Korean authorities.
The group will first fly to the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, where they will visit monuments such as the “Tower of Juche Idea,” named after the North’s guiding philosophy of “juche” or self-reliance. The tourists will then travel on to the North’s Masik Pass on the east coast, where the country’s most modern ski resort is located.
Support material for the tour said: Immerse yourself in the exciting world of Masikryong Ski Resort in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) right from Vladivostok.
“We offer you a unique opportunity to embark on an unforgettable journey that combines active skiing on slopes with beautiful landscapes and learn more about the amazing culture of the DPRK.
