The Nuremore Hotel and golf course in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, is being sold for €6m by liquidator Declan de Lacy, following its acquisition by Chinese cash-for-visa broker Kai Dai in 2020 for around €8m.

The hotel’s operations ceased after a staff work stoppage over unpaid wages, leading to its closure for refurbishment in January 2023, and the company faced significant debts, prompting a High Court winding-up order in May 2023.

CBRE, the selling agent, noted strong demand for hotels and golf resorts, and after receiving indicative offers around €7m, de Lacy opted to market the property openly to attract investors interested in reviving the business.

The property spans 160 acres and includes a 70-bedroom hotel, restaurant, leisure center, and extensive golf facilities, with potential for redevelopment and capital investment to reestablish it as a prominent resort in the region. It served as team headquarters for the Irish soccer team in the run up to Italia 90.
