Paris Metro ticket prices will nearly double during the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, from €2.10 to €4 during the period of 20 July until 8 September, surrounding the Games.

The price increase will only affect visitors to the city, and residents’ monthly and yearly metro passes will remain unaffected.

Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France region, has described the temporary price hike as a “fair price.”

To accommodate the influx of visitors, the Ile-de-France region will significantly increase its transport offerings and introduce a new pass called the Paris 2024 pass, costing €16 per day and up to €70 per week.

Paris aims to make the 2024 Games the greenest in history, with a focus on promoting the use of public transportation to reach competition venues.

Metro operator RATP has launched a translation service called Tradivia, enabling staff to translate spoken queries in 16 different languages.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has expressed concerns that public transport services may struggle to handle the high demand during the events.

The Olympics will take place from 26 July to 11 August, followed by the Paralympics from 28 August to 8 September.
