Phase 2 of the Ulster Canal redevelopment project was officially opened following a €28.4m investment

The project created 80 new construction jobs and includes a new Marina in Clones, looped walk, and amenity area

This restoration project is the largest engineering feat ever undertaken in Ireland and aims to sustain communities, environment, and heritage

Phase 3 of the restoration of the Ulster Canal is planned to connect Clonfad to Castle Saunderson, linking Clones to the wider waterway network, with completion expected by 2029 at a cost of €80m.
