Playful Culture Trail has returned for its sixth year in Cork City

  • It is supported by Cork City Council.

More than 20 cultural and heritage attractions in Cork City joined together for the free family initiative that runs throughout the summer of 2026. Families follow Detective Bláithín on a self guided adventure with clues, challenges and stamp collection across museums, galleries and outdoor spaces. The trail includes Nano Nagle Place, the Butter Museum, Cork City Gaol and Blackrock Castle Observatory. 

Children complete activities such as printing butter wrappers, hunting for cannon balls at Elizabeth Fort and decoding Ogham stones. The trail map is available from participating venues and the Cork Tourist Information Office. Detective Bláithín returns as the lizard mascot leading the detective themed summer.

Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Fergal Dennehy and Play Strategist Martin O’Donoghue welcomed the return of the trail as a way for families to engage with the city’s culture through play. 

Fergal Dennehy shared “the playful culture trail continues to showcase the very best of Cork City’s cultural attractions.”

Martin O’Donoghue shared “the trail is about making culture more accessible and enjoyable for young people.”
