Ponant has aquired a majority stake in Aqua Expeditions, known for its river and ocean cruises in regions like South America and Southeast Asia, enhancing its global footprint in the luxury expedition travel market.
The acquisition is backed by Artémis Group, owned by the Pinault family, which supports Ponant’s commitment to sustainability and excellence in luxury travel, enabling Aqua Expeditions to continue operating as an independent brand under CEO Francesco Galli Zugaro.
Aqua Expeditions currently serves biodiversity hotspots such as the Galápagos and the Peruvian Amazon and is set to launch new East Africa itineraries focusing on the Seychelles and Tanzania, particularly the Aldabra group of islands.
