The Port of San Diego has released the sixth edition of its Blue Economy Incubator (BEI) Highlights Report.

The Blue Economy Incubator, established in 2016, is the only port-led incubator in the world focused on sustainable aquaculture and blue technology. Chair Danielle Moore describes the Blue Tech Bay as an innovative hub that promotes the health of San Diego Bay and community prosperity.

The incubator has leveraged $5.8m in research and development funds and facilitated $2.35m in funding for sustainable projects. The programme is expected to produce 20m juvenile-stage oysters annually and has launched multiple innovative pilot projects through partnerships.

Danielle Moore shared “At the Port of San Diego, our Blue Tech Bay is more than an innovation hub, it’s a living example of where progress is measured by the health of the Bay and the prosperity it brings. We’re injecting the blue economy with bold ideas and responsible stewardship, shaping a future where creativity uplifts our communities and preserves San Diego Bay for generations to come.”
