Cork’s second Premier Inn hotel, featuring 168 bedrooms, is to be developed on the Leisureplex site on MacCurtain St in Cork City by the Whitbread group into pending planning permission.
While the entertainment complex will continue to operate during the planning process, Whitbread aims to transform the site of the former Coliseum cinema into a new hotel venture in a well-positioned location at the junction of MacCurtain St and Brian Boru St.
This development follows Whitbread’s opening of its 14th Premier Inn in Dublin on the site of the former Moore’s Hotel on Morrison’s Quay in Cork City earlier in January, part of the brand’s strategic growth plan in Ireland with new Dublin hotels and a planned Galway location, aiming to expand to 3,500 rooms in total.
