Qatar Airways is nearing completion of equipping its Boeing 777 fleet with SpaceX’s Starlink technology, having retrofitted 15 aircraft by mid-December 2023.

The airline plans to shift focus to upgrading its Airbus A350 fleet later this month after achieving over 6,000 Starlink-equipped flights that offer complimentary ultra-fast wifi.

Qatar Airways aims to be the first airline globally to equip its Airbus A350 with Starlink technology, marking a significant expansion in inflight connectivity.

Other airlines, including United Airlines and AirBaltic, are also adopting Starlink technology for inflight wifi, with United planning to install it on over 1,000 aircraft.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways CEO, reiterated the airline’s commitment to improving the onboard wifi experience for enhanced passenger comfort and service.
