Qatar Airways Chief commercial officer Thierry Antinori says that the airline is preparing to place a significant order for new widebody aircraft.

The airline’s CEO, Badr Mohammed Al Meer, is finalising a request for proposals from aircraft manufacturers, with a deal anticipated to be finalised next month.

Details regarding the specific manufacturers, such as Airbus or Boeing, or the number of aircraft have not been disclosed by the CCO.

Qatar Airways currently operates a fleet of 259 aircraft, primarily widebodies, along with 28 A320-200s and 9 B737-8s.

The airline has 198 aircraft on order, including models such as the A321-200N, A350-1000, B737-10, B787-9, B777-9, and B777-8F, along with plans to acquire a second-hand B777-300ER from Cathay Pacific.
