Retention granted for 6-bedroom guesthouse in Longford’s Enybegs

Longford County Council has granted retention permission for the six-bedroom Longford Country House in Enybegs which had operated as a B&B under previous owners, with the stated aim of the Council to address the “deficiency of tourism accommodation” in the area.

The new owners, Kiernan Steel Group Ltd, are converting the property from a residential dwelling to a guesthouse and seeking to add glamping pods to enhance tourist offerings.

The council’s approval was influenced by the need for new accommodation facilities to support and grow the local tourism economy, aligning with the Longford county development plan.

Future plans include converting an agricultural outhouse into a visitor center and building a retreat area, but further documentation was requested by the council to assess the feasibility of these developments.
