Royal Caribbean International announced the cancellation of additional visits to its private island Labadee in Haiti, extending suspensions through August 2025.
The company previously halted arrivals at Labadee in mid-April due to evolving security concerns in Port-au-Prince, impacting cruises from several ships including Icon of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas.
Some itineraries will replace the visit to Labadee with days at sea, while others will reroute to alternative destinations such as Nassau and Grand Turk.
Royal Caribbean is offering refunds for any prepaid shore excursions booked for Labadee, reinforcing its commitment to guest safety amid the ongoing instability in Haiti.
Labadee, developed by Royal Caribbean and opened to cruise ships in the 1980s, saw a lengthy pause in visits back in 2024 before these recent cancellations tied to escalating gang violence.
A company email shared: “As you prepare for your vacation, we wanted to inform you about some changes to our itinerary. We have been monitoring the evolving situation in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and out of an abundance of caution, we’re swapping our visit to Labadee. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause – your safety is our top priority.”
