Royal Caribbean International is projected to accommodate 7.7m passengers by 2033, continuing to lead the cruise industry in annual passenger capacity.
Carnival Cruise Line follows with an estimate of 6.9m passengers and maintains a fleet of 34 ships compared to Royal Caribbean’s 32.
Royal Caribbean’s ships are generally larger, with a total of approximately 130,000 berths, compared to Carnival’s approximately 125,000.
More of Royal Caribbean’s larger vessels are assigned to the short cruise market, which contributes to its capacity advantage.
Other leading brands by passenger capacity in 2033 include MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess, Celebrity, Costa, AIDA, TUI, P&O UK, and Holland America.
