Ryanair systems are down globally and passengers are unable to book or check in. Ryanair has asked passengers to arrive early at the airport and expect delays.

Crowdstrike, a cybersecurity firm, experienced a major outage impacting businesses globally, caused by an issue with the latest update, leading the company to roll back the update worldwide.

Crowdstrike acknowledged reports of crashes on Windows hosts related to the Falcon Sensor.

Other systems affected include Southern Railways network, Turkish Airlines, Delta, Vanguard, Visa and Xero.

The app is now allowing passengers to access boarding passes.

A statement from Ryanair said: “We’re currently experiencing disruption across the network due to a Global 3rd party IT outage which is out of our control. We advise all passengers to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their scheduled departure time. If you’re due to travel today and have not already checked-in for your flight, you can do so at the airport. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this Global 3rd party IT outage.

Crowdstrike has issued an advisory with a URL that includes the text “Tech-Alert-Windows-crashes-related-to-Falcon-Sensor-2024-07-19.” It is behind a regwall that only customers can access. Crowdstrike said: “CrowdStrike is aware of reports of crashes on Windows hosts related to the Falcon Sensor. Symptoms include hosts experiencing a bugcheck\blue screen error related to the Falcon Sensor. CrowdStrike’s engineers are working on the issue.”

Falcon Sensor is an agent that CrowdStrike claims “blocks attacks on your systems while capturing and recording activity as it happens to detect threats fast.”
