Southwest Airlines is exploring the option of operating long-haul international flights and offering more premium seating. CEO Bob Jordan affirmed that no future plans are off the table for the airline as it revamps its business model.

The management is examining additional premium options and potential airport lounges for their customers. The airline’s fleet includes 338 B737-700s, 203 B737-800s, and 268 B737-8s, and retrofitting is underway for premium seating.

Southwest has applied for a certificate of public convenience to broaden its international reach, aligning with an open skies agreement.

CEO Bob Jordan shared: “Whatever customers need in 2025, 2030, we won’t take any of that off the table. At the moment, to questions about lounges, additional premium options, or even longer stage-length flying, we continue to share that everything is on the table for our consideration.“No commitment, but you can certainly see a day when we are as Southwest Airlines serving long-haul destinations like Europe.”
