Shannon Airport saw an 8pc increase in passenger numbers during the first six months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, with 974,012 passengers recorded.
The increase in passenger traffic was attributed to the resumption of Delta’s daily service to New York-JFK and increased frequencies to nine European and UK destinations during the summer season.
The airport’s goal is to reach twom passengers by the end of 2024. CEO Mary
Considine emphasised the commitment to delivering a world-class experience for customers at Shannon Airport, highlighting the seamless and hassle-free travel experience offered to passengers.
Mary Considine sidd: “we are on track to reach the twom passengers mark by the end of the year and as we build towards this, we remain committed to delivering a world-class experience for our customers, who are travelling from every corner of the country to fly Shannon. Despite being in the height of the busy summer travel season, our passengers are still enjoying the famous seamless, hassle-free experience of using Shannon, where customers can get from the car park, through check-in and security in just a matter of minutes. On behalf of all the team at Shannon Airport, I would like to thank our passengers for their support and would encourage people to continue to think Shannon first. We have had a busy first half of 2024 at Shannon Airport and we are pleased to see our passenger numbers increasing when compared to the same period last year. Shannon is operating to 33 destinations across Europe, the UK and the US this year and we are thrilled to be able to offer passengers increased summer frequencies to nine of our European destinations including the likes of Alicante, Faro, Lanzarote and Tenerife, to facilitate additional demand during the school holidays for those all-important family breaks.”
