Relics of St. Brigid are returning to County Kildare after almost 1,000 years.

A procession will take place on January 28, 2024, from Solas Bhride Centre to St. Brigid’s Parish Church in Kildare Town.

The relics will be brought into the church by Bishop Denis Nulty for a special mass.

The relics were hidden during Viking attacks and were later moved to Downpatrick. Some fragments were taken to Lumiar, Portugal, and a portion will now be displayed at St. Brigid’s Parish Church in Kildare Town.

Eoghan Corry will be delivering the keynote “St Brigid code” or the Féile Bríde Annual Celtic Lecture on February 8th in the Kildare Education Centre.
