Sinead McCarthy was appointed GM of the Brehon Hotel in 2018

The team at the Brehon hotel have paid tribute to retiring GM Sinead (McCarthy) Murphy.

“As we say goodbye, we know that Sinead’s passion, work ethic, and zest for life will bring success in her new ventures. Her absence will undoubtedly leave a void, but it’s a void filled with gratitude for the invaluable contributions she has made to our beloved Brehon Hotel. Though she may be leaving our daily operations, she will forever remain a part of our extended Brehon Hotel family.”

Ms McCarthy is from Drimoleague in West Cork and joined The Brehon team in 2014, progressing through various roles like Food and Beverage Manager, Operations Manager, and Interim General Manager.

She studied hospitality management in CIT and GMIT and obtained a Higher Diploma in Human Resources from University College Cork.

In 2016, she was awarded Hospitality Manager of the Year in the food and beverage category by the Irish Hospitality Institute for her leadership and revenue growth strategies.

The Brehon is a four-star hotel and one of the flagship properties of The Gleneagle Group, headed up by Patrick O’Donoghue. Other notable locations within the group include The Gleneagle Hotel and Apartments, The INEC and Scotts Hotel in Killarney, The Maritime Hotel in Bantry, and Sheen Falls Country Club in Kenmare.
