A five-year tourism development plan for West Cork and Kenmare launched by Fáiltre Ireland aims to create a sustainable tourism destination in West Cork and Kenmare by spreading business across the entire region over the next five years.
The plan seeks to extend the tourism season in West Cork and Kenmare, allowing visitors to enjoy the region’s offerings beyond traditional peak times.
The plan aims to position West Cork and Kenmare as a premier national and international artisan food and drink destination by promoting local culinary experiences.
Key stakeholders, including local councils, tourism operators, and community groups, have contributed to the plan, ensuring a shared vision and clear direction for the region’s tourism development.
This plan includes the development of an iconic Start/End to the Wild Atlantic Way, the implementation of the Beara Breifne Way Masterplan, and the creation of all-weather experiences and an integrated transport system to enhance visitor experiences and increase the length of the tourism season. The goal is to strengthen the local economy and support and strengthen local communities with sustainable, high-quality job opportunities in the tourism sector.
Director of Regional Development at Fáilte Ireland Paul Keeley said “the development of outdoor and all-weather experiences will further strengthen West Cork and Kenmare’s reputation as an internationally compelling destination.”
