The new Sun Princess, delivered to Princess Cruises, is preparing for its maiden cruise on Feb. 28, 2024, departing from Civitavecchia, near Rome.
The maiden voyage of the 175,500-ton vessel includes visits to Greece, Spain, Turkey, Italy, and destinations like Naples, Piraeus, Kusadasi, Santorini, Palma de Mallorca, and Messina.
The ship will offer various seven- to 12-night itineraries in the Mediterranean until mid-September, followed by a nine-night cruise to Southampton in Northern Europe before heading to Fort Lauderdale for its maiden winter season in the Caribbean.
Built by Fincantieri, the Sun Princess is the first LNG-powered cruise ship in Princess Cruises’ fleet, featuring new elements like a geodesic dome and new dining venues, with plans for the new Star Princess to follow in 2025 after initial sailings were delayed for technical work.
