Syrianair and Cham Wings Airlines resumed scheduled international flights on January 7, 2025, with each airline operating a flight from Damascus to Sharjah, marking a significant step in the revival of Syrian aviation.
Syrianair’s A320-200, registered YK-AKG (msn 1402), conducted the first passenger flight from Damascus since the government upheaval in early December, subsequently flying to Doha on January 8.
Cham Wings Airlines operated its own flights on the same day, utilizing A320-200 YK-BAA (msn 2434) for the Sharjah route, while maintaining two other A320s in an inactive status.
Additionally, Qatar Airways resumed its service to Syria from Doha after a 13-year hiatus, running its inaugural flight with an A330-200, while Turkish Airlines has indicated plans to relaunch routes to Syria, pending confirmation.
