Thai Airways International is considering purchasing more Boeing B787-9s as it navigates potential tariff negotiations with the United States.
The airline recently submitted a trade proposal to the US administration to avoid a 36pc tariff hike on Thai exports.
In February 2024, Thai Airways placed an order for thirty-nine B787-9s and six B787-10s, with options for an additional 35.
Chief executive Chai Eamsiri shared that the airline’s current fleet is not suited for long-distance flights, making the US market risky amidst the current state of negotiations. The airline aims to simplify its fleet by retiring the B777-200ERs and A330-300s by 2033.
