A group of tourists fell into a Venice canal when their gondola capsized after ignoring orders to stop taking selfies.
The gondolier tried to maneuver under a bridge and shouted at the tourists to sit down and stay still, but they disregarded his instructions.
The incident was captured on video. Footage of the group in the water at Rio de la Verona went viral on platforms like TikTok, showing the drenched tourists clinging to the boat.
Fortunately, no one was injured, and the gondolier managed to rescue everyone from the canal..
Social media account Venezia Non e Disneyland (Venice is not Disneyland) said the group were given a “warm place” to dry off. No one was hurt in the accident.
Amidst an ongoing debate about over tourism, it was revealed last week that a €5 daily charge will be introduced from next year for visitors on certain days between April and July.
