Turkish Airlines’ aircraft order from Boeing, initially expected by mid-2025, may face a six-month delay due to unresolved contract terms, according to CEO Bilal Eksi.

The airline is considering Airbus as an alternative if negotiations with Boeing, involving 300 aircraft including B737-8s and B787s, do not proceed, following a reported commitment of 230 firm orders to Airbus in 2023.

As part of its “100th Anniversary Strategy,” Turkish Airlines plans to double its fleet to 800 aircraft by 2033, but delays from both Boeing and Airbus may affect this objective, leading the airline to lease additional planes.

Currently operating a fleet of 438 aircraft, including 254 Airbus and 184 Boeing, Turkish Airlines has also signed dry-leases for ten B737-8s scheduled for delivery in 2025 while finalizing a diverse order with Airbus for 355 planes.
