Tauck has announced the introduction of two new riverboats, the MS Serene and MS Lumière, set to join the fleet in 2026, sailing on the Seine and Rhône rivers respectively.

The names were chosen from over 1,000 submissions, reflecting the essence of each river; Serene evokes tranquility connected to the Seine, while Lumière represents light and inspiration from the Rhône.

The new ships will feature luxurious amenities including a Sun Deck with a swimming pool, a wellness area called The Retreat, and spacious Category 5 suites with river views.

Each vessel will accommodate over 120 guests, with a majority of cabins measuring 225 square feet or larger, ensuring a comfortable experience for travellers.

The cabins in the new riverboats will be 20 percent larger than those on existing Tauck riverboats, and there will be no single supplements for Category 1 cabins, further enhancing the appeal for solo travellers.

Tauck CEO Jennifer Tombaugh shared: “The name Serene is perfect for our new ship on the Seine, bringing to mind tranquility and rejuvenation. The River Seine itself is a gently flowing, meandering river that evokes a spirit of calm and escape that was captured beautifully in paintings of the waterway by the region’s Impressionist artists, including Monet and Renoir,” said Tombaugh. The name Lumière, chosen for the new Rhône River ship, symbolises light, inspiration and discovery.”
