Uber chief executive officer Dara Khosrowshahi has lobbied the Government for regulation changes so it can expand in the Irish market, framing itself as a solution to the shortage of taxis and a way of protecting the night-time economy, new documents show.

The company tried to broker a meeting with then-taoiseach Leo Varadkar at the Davos World Economic Forum in Switzerland earlier this year, before writing to Simon Harris during his first days in the job.
