The United States Department of Justice successfully transported a B747-300M aircraft from Buenos Aires to Miami following legal procedures in Argentina.
The seizure of the freighter took 18 months of planning and coordination between the US and Argentinian governments.
The investigation is focused on alleged ties between Emtrasur Cargo, a subsidiary of Venezuela’s Conviasa, and the sanctioned Iranian carrier Mahan Air.
The US authorities claim that the unauthorized transfer of the aircraft benefited the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hizballah.
