United and American face FAA intervention over their scheduling dispute over gates at Chicago O’Hare following post-pandemic shifts.
American expects to regain three gates in 2026 while United commits to adding flights to maintain its count. The FAA proposes limits to prevent large-scale disruptions during the summer 2026 scheduling season from March 29 to October 25.
United holds 47.2pc of weekly capacity at O’Hare compared with American’s 33.9pc.
Both carriers have expressed a commitment to safe operations and look forward to discussions with authorities.
