United Airlines has unveiled two aircraft in a Stars and Stripes livery to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
The Boeing 787-10 and Boeing 737-800 received the full red white and blue paint scheme at Washington Dulles International Airport. The design features 50 stars and diagonal stripes across the fuselage with commemorative plaques honouring military veterans. United rolled out the aircraft this week as part of the America250 celebrations.
Nearly 600 military pilots have joined United through its Military Pilot Programme since 2024 with another 500 expected by the end of 2027. The carrier now employs more than 8300 veterans. The 787 provides a global platform while the 737 serves domestic routes.
US Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy attended the event alongside chief executive Scott Kirby. United joins other carriers in using special liveries for the anniversary.
Scott Kirby shared “America is the greatest country in the world and we are proud to play a role in celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary. This patriotic design will remind the American people of the many freedoms we enjoy.”
