The sixth annual United Cup played in the sunshine at Carton House on Thursday was drawn each between Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The match came down to the last four ball after Ireland led 3½ to 1½ with three games to go. The north’s elected captain Jonathan Miller had broken his toe and substitute captain Jonathan Adair had to return north for a funeral, so Aaron Fletcher accepted the cup on behalf of team north under the rules which means that last’s years winers retain the cup.
