The US government lifted restrictions on the export of General Electric engines to COMAC as trade tensions ease between Washington and Beijing.
The expected deliveries include CF34 engines for the C909 and CFM International LEAP-1Cs for the C919 to the Chinese manufacturer.
The US engine embargo was initially imposed in retaliation for China’s restrictions on rare earth material exports.
CFM International, which produces the engine types, is a joint venture between General Electric and Safran Aircraft Engines.
A new CJ-1000A powerplant is being developed by the Aero Engine Corporation of China as an alternative engine for the C919.
