American Queen Voyages has abruptly ceased operations, leading to the cancellation of all future cruises, with a promise to refund guests and customers for the disrupted voyages.
This was revealed in a message to employees and crew and a voice message on the company’s reservation call centre.
The decision to shut down was attributed to challenging business circumstances and the company’s inability to secure sufficient capital at a viable rate to sustain its operations.
Following recent strategic shifts, including exiting the coastal cruise market, downsizing riverboat operations from four to three ships, and plans for a seasonal expedition program in Alaska, the Hornblower-owned American Queen Voyages faced financial constraints prompting the shutdown.
