The 22-bedroom Westenra Arms Hotel in Monaghan is seeking local authority approval to expand its accommodation by converting a second-floor bar into seven en suite bedrooms.

As a family-run hotel known for its unique dining experiences, the Westenra Arms aims to enhance its offerings and address increasing demand for accommodations in Monaghan town.

The proposed expansion also includes plans to convert two existing first-floor and second-level bedrooms into additional bedrooms with shower facilities.

Additionally, the hotel has requested retention planning for a secure car park with 29 spaces, along with the installation of electric charging points and improvements to access points adjacent to St. Peters Lake car park.
