County Kildare’s Weston Airport has conducted an emergency preparedness exercise, designed by Cuttle Consulting and 4Ward Planning.

The scenario featured a helicopter with four people on board making an uncontrolled landing off the runway, resulting in one fatality, two serious injuries, and one person walking away. Airport ATC activated alarms and dispatched the Airport Fire and Rescue Service, while emergency calls went to Dublin Fire Brigade, National Ambulance Service, and An Garda Síochána. Dublin Fire Brigade, Kildare Fire and Rescue Service, and An Garda Síochána attended the site.

The Crisis Management Team coordinated the response, with observers from the Irish Aviation Authority and Air Accident Investigation Unit present. A hot debrief by Sean Ward and Paul Cuttle will lead to a post-exercise report with learning recommendations.
