On Saturday, 19 July 2025, Stage 14 of the Tour de France will see riders cover a gruelling 182.6-kilometre route from Pau to the summit finish at Luchon-Superbagnères, navigating the formidable Pyrenees. This mountain stage, with nearly 5,000 metres of elevation gain, features iconic climbs like the Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aspin, and Col de Peyresourde before the final ascent, promising a tough day for the peloton. The route passes through several towns, each offering a glimpse of the region’s rich landscapes and heritage.

The stage begins in Pau, a historic city in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques known for its elegant Château de Pau and sweeping views of the Pyrenean foothills, regarded as one of the most beautiful mountainscapes on the planet  Pau was where Sean Kelly won a stage of the race in 1982

Riders then head towards Tarbes, a bustling market town with a legacy tied to its cavalry history and the serene Jardin Massey. The route continues to Bagnères-de-Luchon, a spa town famed for its thermal springs and surrounded by towering peaks, serving as a gateway to the high mountains. 

From there, the peloton approaches Saint-Béat, a small village along the Garonne River, its stone bridge and medieval architecture adding a timeless quality to the race. The stage concludes at Luchon-Superbagnères, a ski station above Bagnères-de-Luchon, reachable only by a steep climb that offers panoramic views across the Pyrenean valleys. This challenging stage of the 2025 Tour de France showcases the beauty and intensity of the Pyrenees, testing the resilience of every rider.
