- County Longford Golf Club: Founded in 1894, County Longford Golf Club is one of Ireland’s oldest clubs, located just outside Longford town on the Dublin Road (R393), about an hour from Dublin. This 18-hole par-72 parkland course, redesigned by Eddie Hackett and reopened in May 2005, spans over 6,700 yards and features mature trees, water hazards, and panoramic views of Longford town and the surrounding countryside. Visitors praise its excellent condition, challenging yet fair layout, and warm welcome, with amenities including trolley and buggy hire, a well-stocked pro shop, and a clubhouse with bar and catering. Green fees range from €25–€40, making it a great value for a scenic and historic course. The par-5 18th hole is designated as the signature hole, where the approach to the green requires a shot over water, a dramatic and memorable finish with scenic views.
