The data for July 2026 has confirmed a two-speed tourism reality where global hotel room prices continue to climb but the total number of overnight stays has almost completely flattened. Spanish hotels recorded 44.8m overnight stays in July 2026, a rise of just 0.3pc on the same month in 2025. Domestic stays fell by 1.1pc while those by foreign visitors rose by the same amount.
Travelers are cutting their trips shorter, hunting for last-minute deals, or staying home to handle rising travel costs and inflation. The average hotel stay has fallen to 3.40 days. Even though people are still traveling, they have shaved days off their trips to balance their budgets.
The Hotel Price Index has jumped 5.9pc year-over-year. The average daily revenue per occupied room has surged nearly 6.8pc, hitting an average of €156.92. Marbella has posted the highest figures for hotel rates in Spain.
