Aviation punctuality slightly better last week DESPITE strike by Belgrade ATC – Eurocontrol

Eurocontrol’s reports that air punctuality reached 74pc last week, up 4.4pc rom 2024 and slightly up by 0.7pc from the previous week.

ATFM delays remained consistent at 3.3 minutes per flight, 20pc lower than the same week in 2024. A total of 54.8K flights faced ATFM restrictions, averaging 7,826 daily, which is 22pc of daily flights.

Weekly air traffic in Europe saw a 4pc rise compared to the previous year, with 35,491 daily flights, reflecting a minor increase of 1.1pc from Week 33.

Eurocontrol’s weekly update claims that 61K delay minutes were conserved by implementing pre-agreed scenarios to reroute traffic away from bad weather areas.

A written statement from Eurocontrol shared: “While industrial action at Beograd Area Control Centre made up 6pc of the week’s total ATFM delay, this was of a similar magnitude as during other summer weeks, when such delays were related to capacity and weather issues in the context of sustained traffic growth.
