A UN report revealed 158 businesses, including Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, and TripAdvisor, operating in Israeli West Bank settlements deemed illegal.
The list, updated from 2023, added 68 new companies, mostly domiciled in Israel, with seven firms like Opodo removed. Activities include construction, real estate, and mining, raising human rights concerns as per the UN’s 2024 ruling.
Israel disputes the report, citing no legal prohibition on business in conflict areas, while the UN calls for remediation of abuses. The report follows increased scrutiny amid Israel’s military actions in Gaza and West Bank raids in 2025.
Volker Türk shared: “This report underscores the due diligence responsibility of businesses working in contexts of conflict to ensure their activities do not contribute to human rights abuses.”
