Olivier Jankovec addressed the impact of high fuel costs and the stunted rollout of the Schengen Entry/Exit System on regional airports. Andrea Andorno, CEO of Torino Airport, spoke about the role of regional airports in European connectivity. The conference has examined policy measures needed to support the sector.

ACI EUROPE represents over 600 airports across 55 countries and facilitates 95pc of commercial air traffic in Europe. The organisation has called for suspension of national aviation taxes and safeguarding of operating aid for smaller airports.

Olivier Jankovec shared “The current levels of jet fuel prices and the prospect of a new cost-of-living crisis mean that many regional airports across our continent are likely to face both a supply and demand shock.”

Andrea Andorno shared “Regional airports are clearly indispensable enablers of the EU’s Single Market.”
