Air Algérie has ordered sixteen ATR72-600 aircraft for its new regional subsidiary, Domestic Airlines.

The ATR72-600s will have Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT engines and carry 72 passengers, with deliveries starting in 2026.

Domestic Airlines aims to improve air connections within Algeria, especially to southern regions lacking viable transport options.

Operations for the new subsidiary are set to launch in July 2025, based on the recently acquired Tassili Airlines.

Air Algérie’s CEO, Hamza Benhamouda shared “the ATR72-600 is the right aircraft to help us connect all regions of our country and support national development through reliable and efficient air transport.”
