Air Zimbabwe has invested over USD1m to restart its global ticketing and code-sharing capabilities. CEO Edmund Makona announced this development at Victoria Falls on July 1, outlining its critical nature for the airline’s revival.
Integration with global distribution systems (GDSs) is in progress, with completion anticipated in three months. The airline is in the midst of a six-year turnaround strategy aimed at expanding its route network and increasing revenue.
Air Zimbabwe is currently not an IATA-member airline and is restricted from operating in the EU due to an ongoing ban.
CEO Edmund Makona shared: “We asked ourselves: what’s on the critical path to our revival? Visibility on global selling platforms was top.”
