Thailand’s Ministry of Finance plans to invest THB12bn (€300m) in Thai Airways International by October 2024 and aims to relist the company on the Stock Exchange of Thailand by mid-2025

The airline’s improved financial performance is attributed to expense reductions, operational efficiencies, and a stronger local currency

The Finance Ministry will retain a stake of around 40% in Thai Airways, with majority control transitioning to the private sector as part of the court-supervised business rehabilitation

Funding for the investment will come from the 2025 fiscal budget and the Vayupak Fund, with approval expected from the supervising court later this year; despite a first-quarter net profit decrease, the CEO stated that it would not impact the company’s operations or rehabilitation plan.
